Spring Race Series Update!!

May racing was not without wind!! (Déjà vu April!). The races for May 11th were abandoned due winds blowing a steady 15
knots with sustained gusts to 20 knots. However, the occasion was not a complete bust as the Club acquired a candidate for the coveted “Bottoms Up” award, as was duly reported in the Tuscaloosa News. The conditions for the Mayor’s Cup Regatta races were tamer. While there were no abdominal muscle strains from hiking, the wind was adequate to complete three races on Saturday and one on Sunday. The participation was quite good – 6 Mutineers, 4 Flying Scots, and 2 Portsmouth boat (Laser and
Capri 14). This permitted starting three fleets.

The results of the Fleet races and the 2008 Mayor’s Cup are:

Mutineer Fleet: 1st-Peter Luke/Mike Johns
Flying Scot Fleet: 1st-Bob Boggan/Laurie Johns
Portsmouth Fleet: 1st-Pat Ferguson

Mayor’s Cup:

1st-Pat Ferguson
2nd-Bob Boggan/Laurie Johns
3rd-Peter Luke/Mike Johns
